Drawing, Christ's Entry into Jerusalem

This is a Drawing. It was created by Jan van der Straet, called Stradanus. It is dated ca. 1580 – 1605 and we acquired it in 1947. Its medium is pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash over black chalk on laid paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

Binding Evidence: At least eighteen irregularly spaced stitching holes run along the upper edge of the sheet when viewing the recto. On the verso, the abundance of media along that same margin suggests that the sheet was unbound when the drawing was made.

This object was donated by Janos Scholz. It is credited Gift of Janos Scholz.

Its dimensions are

H x W: 10.5 × 13.9 cm (4 1/8 × 5 1/2 in.)

It has the following markings

Stamped on recto at lower left with mark for the Cooper Union Museum (L.645b).
