Wine Cooler, from Pastel collection
This is a wine cooler. It was designed by Scholten & Baijings, Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings.
This object is not part of the Cooper Hewitt's permanent collection. It was able to spend time at the museum on loan from Scholten & Baijings as part of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial.
Scholten & Baijings explore the balance of color, form, and details of everyday objects. This piece from the Pastel collection was produced by Verreum, a glassworks manufacturer in Prague, Czech Republic. The collection employs an interior and exterior metallic silver coating to hide and reveal rich color gradients. This method transforms the glass into a mysterious, ever-changing surface that interacts with its surroundings.
It is credited Courtesy of Scholten & Baijings.
