Inscribed in graphite, upper left: Smoke, Brown perp in shadow / Lights opalescent, orange brown (very smoky); upper right: 4th peak Morning; in graphite, center: 2 2 / 3; in graphite, lower center: 2 - Rarified smoke which stretches [struck out: as far as] beyond the horizon color smoky orange (warm) the / upper part opposed to light a shade light than sky lower part shade darker. It is very thin and melts / into the azure in all parts. The smoke forms itself with all sorts of fantastic forms. / 3 - cloud
