Drawing, Lamentation over the Dead Christ

This is a Drawing. It was created by Jan van der Straet, called Stradanus. It is dated ca. 1580 – 1605 and we acquired it in 1947. Its medium is recto: pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash over black chalk on laid paper verso: pen and brown ink over black chalk on laid paper. It is a part of the Drawings, Prints, and Graphic Design department.

Binding Evidence: Nine irregularly spaced stitching holes run along the left edge of the sheet when viewing the recto.

This object was donated by Janos Scholz. It is credited Gift of Janos Scholz.

Stamped twice on verso with mark for the Cooper Union Museum (L.645b).
